Mercury: Who is she?
Mercury is the planet that astrology attributes to our thinking, attitudes, and ideas. How you listen to and process information is all related to this planet, and it rules over what you say, how you say it, and what you were actually thinking.
Why does everyone talk about her?
Mercury is in charge of all forms of communication, from talking and listening, to snail mail (long live the USPS! - https://usmailnotforsale.org/), email, DMs, and Slack. When Mercury is out of whack, we notice, because so much of modern life relies on it’s effective functioning.
I don’t know her.
It doesn’t matter if you believe in astrology: just wait to see if 🍎 pushes an update, or Facebook servers go down during a Mercury Retrograde period. When Mercury goes Retrograde, tech problems, miscommunications or confusions, delays, and other annoyances are commonplace.
OK fine. What’s a Retrograde?
Sometimes, from the perspective of us adorable specks of dust on the Earth, a planet appears to be moving backwards through the zodiac. It’s an illusion, but one that impacts us here on earth. Basically what’s happening is that the Earth is making its orbit around the Sun faster than the planet outside of its orbit.
In human terms, It’s like the primary functions of that planet get turned inwards. This is a time intended for introspection and reflection. Whenever a planet is retrograde, we apply the rule of RE’s:
- Review
- Reflect
- Reassess
- Recalibrate
- Reorient

YIKES EDITION
The 2020 election is on November 3rd, 2020, the exact date that Mercury goes station direct.
This means a couple of things; the first is that the whole period leading up to the election is more likely to be influenced by misinformation, misunderstandings, and delays. Hence le yikes.
Luckily there’s no need to panic! Astrology has given us the head’s up, so all we have to do is heed it. ....and that’s why we love astrology 😉.
